The serial number on the case between the 6'Oclock lugs has 7 digits - 124XXXX. This confuses me because I thought with a case back of IV.1958, the production year for the watch should be 1958 or 1959, which means the serial number for the watch should be 6 digits starting from 328000 to 516000. The A/6538 bezel must clip on the retaining ring and at the same time cover the "useless" rim on mid case. And even more surprising, the inside of the A/6538 bezel has no discernible ridges or grooves, unlike the 5513 bezel. The inside case back of a third series reference 6538 from a watch with case number 307’XXX, showing the III.57 date code.
